What Students Are Saying

headshot "The opportunity to participate in online education has allowed me to work, go to school and most importantly be a mom. The support of my instructors has been wonderful and allowed me to develop my vocational educational curriculum."

Candace Bracken,
Boston RN to BS Program

What Faculty Are Saying

"I have taught international relations online for the past four years, and it has been an amazing experience for both me and my students. I have been teaching international relations for 40 years, and doing it online has reenergized my approach to and perspective of world politics. With a touch of their fingertips, my students can peruse the world's media, watch a meeting of the UN Security Council, or participate in the experimental online war studies program at King's College London. Teaching international relations online has opened up opportunities for my students which never existed before."

Robert Weiner, Boston International Relations

Considering an Online Accredited College?

Online learners have more online accredited college choices than ever before. When it comes to taking courses from an online accredited college, you should ask the following questions:

Is tradition important to you? If yes, does the online accredited college have a traditional campus?

UMassOnline is part of the University of Massachusetts System, which has been serving the educational and economical needs of society for more than 140 years by providing quality education and world class research and technology. UMassOnline, the online accredited college of the University of Massachusetts is helping the system improve the lives of the people of the Commonwealth, the nation, and the world.

In addition to tradition, you may want access to on-campus student services and some face-to-face interaction and instruction. For this reason, it is important that the online accredited college you are considering has physical campus locations.

Second, is the online accredited college accredited by a premier and reputable agency?

The University of Massachusetts programs offered at Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell and the Medical School are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, which accredits schools in the six New England states. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges is an advocate of educational quality and its improvement. Membership in the Association indicates that the institution has been carefully evaluated and found to meet standards agreed upon by qualified educators. In addition, many of each campus' schools and colleges are also accredited by discipline-specific agencies such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Computing Sciences Accreditation Board, National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and National League for Nursing. Does the online accredited college grant the degree? And if so, does the online accredited college reference online on the diploma or transcript?

With an online degree from UMassOnline, you will receive the same degree as that of on-campus students, and be taught by the same world-class faculty. Our online degree curriculum is just as rigorous if not more challenging. A degree from UMassOnline is the same quality degree earned from the University of Massachusetts. Whether on-campus or online, degrees are granted by The University of Massachusetts and will not contain references to ‘online' on your diploma or transcript.
