Seminar- Teaching Secondary English

This course traces the development of the English Language from its beginnings to the present, examining both internal and external forces involved in language change. Pre- and in-service teachers will learn fundamental linguistic terms and concepts which, paired with an understanding of historical context, will contribute to a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the various shifts and stages of the English language over time. This course will meet the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) subject matter requirements for history of the English language
