This course addresses security, privacy and compliance issues as they impact health information systems. The course explores and evaluates the moral and ethical concepts of information security. Students will explore security issues including the importance of establishing a health care organization wide information security program, the ability to identify significant threats, learn about security standards, best practices, emerging issues and lessons learned from case studies. The overall goal of the course is the evaluation and implementation of security in the healthcare environment.Prerequisite(s): Department permission required.
