Seminar-Introduction to Counseling

This interdisciplinary course focuses on real-world applications of counseling theories and techniques. Students will learn about the history of the field and some of the approaches to counseling that are most used today, including Cognitive Behavioral techniques and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, they will learn about some of the basic counseling approaches that are used in a variety of settings today including schools, healthcare, social services, and criminal justice. This is not a practice course.
