Special Topics- Perspectives on Social Justice and Advocacy

In this course, we will look at social justice and advocacy in economic, political, cultural, and professional realms. We will engage with the tensions between individual and collective action to understand social justice and advocacy as stances and processes, visions and projects that encompass collective endeavor as well as individual commitment and participation. We will explore how social justice is framed, practiced, and advocated in different contexts, taking a look at specific notions of equity, fairness, inclusion, representation, recognition, sovereignty, democracy, and human rights.
