Socialism: The International History of a Revolutionary Idea

This course will discuss one of the most important movements in modern history. Readings and discussions will give students an idea of Socialist ideology and the different strains that emerged from it, including anarchism, revolutionary socialism, social democracy, and communism. They will consider the different interpretations that have produced conflict among adherents of different varieties of socialism and how they have affected the world.Prerequisite(s): Department permission required.
