The Certificate in Meeting and Event Management is a 12-month credit based program that prepares students for career opportunities in the ever popular meeting and event industry. This program is designed to provide knowledge in core aspects of event and meeting management, including the selection of appropriate meeting sites, pre-event publicity and marketing, audio-visual aids, budgeting, negotiation, and contracts.
This certificate requires completion of five courses:
1. HT-MGT 332 Convention Sales
2. HT-MGT 334 Event Management
3. HT-MGT 382 Hospitality Marketing
4. HT-MGT 397G Meetings, Convention, and Event Management
5. HT-MGT 457 Catering and Banquet Management

Applicants should have at least a high school degree or General Equivalency Diploma. This program is geared toward those who are seeking entry into the tourism industry as well as to employees and supervisory staff currently in the tourism and hospitality industry who are seeking skills upgrading or advancement into supervisory or management position.

You are not eligible for financial aid because this is not in a degree granting program. You may be eligible for a direct to consumer alternative loan. These private loans do not require school certification and proceeds are paid directly to the borrower. When looking for loans, please make sure you specify to the lender that you are looking for a "Direct to consumer loan" or that it is for Continuing Education classes. Please review specific requirements of each lender prior to applying for these loans.
