The M.Ed./CAGS: Science Education Online is a graduate program offered jointly by the School of Education and College of Natural Sciences. Courses are offered from several departments to best serve the needs of elementary and middle school teachers. Program participants can earn an M.Ed./CAGS through the School of Education. Massachusetts’ teachers can earn Professional Licensure through completion of the M.Ed. and/or by earning 12 credits beyond the master’s degree while enrolled in a CAGS program. The master’s degree is comprised of 33 credits and the CAGS requires 30 credits. In addition, development is underway to add a 15 credit graduate certificate.
Leads to Professional Licensure for Teachers in Massachusetts in the following areas:
- Teachers of General Science: Grades 5-8
- Teachers of Earth Science: Grades 5-8
- Elementary Teachers: Grades 1-6
- Teachers of General Science: Grades 1-6
- Teachers of Students with Moderate Disabilities: PreK-8
