About: 

The Certificate Program in Spanish/English Translation has been designed to meet the increasing local, national, and international demand for professionals, educators, and students interested in meeting the challenges of modern multicultural, multilingual societies.

Participants will explore the history, principles, theory, and practice of oral and written translation. They will practice the techniques of legal, medical, technical, general, and literary translation and learn to use specialized dictionaries and other essential reference materials. They will also improve their knowledge of English and Spanish syntaxes, morphologies, and semantic systems.

A Certificate in Translation is awarded upon successful completion of the program and demonstration of excellence by successfully completing a comprehensive examination given by a departmental panel.

The University of Massachusetts Boston Translation Program is an ATA-Approved Program

The University of Massachusetts Boston Translation Program is recognized by the American Translators Association (ATA) as an Approved Translation & Interpreting School. The ATA is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the professions of translation & interpreting, and offers an internationally recognized professional translator certification program.
