About: 

The A.S. in Sustainable Food and Farming is designed for students who wish to explore careers in sustainable agriculture. Students acquire a basic knowledge of both plant and soil sciences, along with education in specific agricultural production and marketing techniques. The major offers flexibility in designing personal program of study, allowing students to focus on production and marketing, agricultural education, and/or public policy and community development.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst also offers a smooth transition into the online bachelor’s degree. Credits earned may be applied to the online BA, Sustainability Studies degree completion program through the University Without Walls (first bachelor's degree only) and the UMass Amherst Bachelor of Science Degree in Sustainable Food and Farming on campus.

Admissions: 

Students are admitted based on their complete applicant profile, including academic record, related experiences, and personal/professional goals. Students do not have to have college credits completed in order to apply for this program.

Admission is for the Fall, Spring and Summer semester.
