About: 

The online B.S. in Sustainable Food and Farming is designed for those who are intrigued by sustainable agriculture and possible careers in this field. 

The major offers flexibility in designing a personal program of study, allowing students to focus on vegetable, fruit and animal systems, permaculture, whole farm production and marketing, agricultural education, public policy, advocacy and community development.  The self-designed, hands-on internship is an enjoyable experiential component of this program that is optional, but highly recommended.

Accreditation: 

The University of Massachusetts is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Admissions: 

Students are admitted based on their complete applicant profile, including academic record, related experiences, and personal/professional goals. The minimum GPA required for admission is 2.7/4.0 scale. In order to apply for this program, students do not have to have college credits completed. Admission is for the fall or spring semester. If Math and English are necessary, placement exams are required to determine aptitude level.

Enrollment appointments are separate and specific to each term. If a student wants to enroll in a class prior to the term for which they were accepted, they have to do so as a non-degree student which involves completing the non-degree enrollment application and apply for summer financial aid, if necessary.
