6 Tips To Ace Your Interview

Whether it’s for school or a job, facing an upcoming interview can be daunting. Here are a few tips to ace that future interview:

Think Positive. Envision yourself answering each question with confidence. If you picture the interview going well, it is more likely to happen. Don’t let negative thoughts cloud your mind.  Instead, think about your positive skills and qualities that will shine.

Be Punctual. You should arrive for your interview at least 10 minutes before it is scheduled to start. Anticipate any extra time you would need for possible traffic problems or checking in with security at the front desk.

Be Courteous. Being polite and friendly goes a long way. People want to work with people they like, so a friendly smile and a positive attitude can make a good impression.

Provide Real-Life Examples. Connect what you say about your skillset with examples of when you used your skills in previous work.

Ask Questions. When you are done answering questions, the interview isn’t over. Be sure to ask your own questions about the job role and responsibilities as well as how the company operates. One of the biggest pet peeves of interviewers is when a candidate just shrugs and says “nope” when asked if he or she has any questions. It shows a lack of interest and initiative, and it can cost you the job.

Take Every Interview Opportunity That Comes Your Way.  Practice makes perfect.
