UMass Online Program Spotlight: Orientation and Mobility Graduate Certificate

For those interested in helping the visually impaired live independent, productive lives, being a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist may be a great option for you!

Offered through The UMass Boston Graduate College of Education and supported by the Northeast Regional Center for Vision Education (NERCVE), this certification is recommended to students who are passionate about assisting individuals who are blind/visually impaired reach their goal of becoming safe, efficient, and independent travelers.

Students will participate in a hands-on study environment where they can apply their knowledge in the field and gain real life experience. Students who complete the program are invited to sit for the international professional examination and resulting certification hosted by the Academy for the Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP).

After program completion, students can expect to find jobs in various settings, including state and federal agencies, and public and private schools.
