UMass President Marty Meehan’s Community Contributions

UMass President Marty Meehan is making headlines for his contributions to the greater Massachusetts community. Meehan is known for being a well-regarded politician and university leader. Previously serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and as the Chancellor of UMass Lowell. Most recently, he received an honorary degree from the American College of Greece and made a generous donation for UMass Lowell scholarships and an educational foundation.

Earlier this summer, Meehan was honored by the American College of Greece for his great service to the UMass community. According to American College of Greece President David Horner, Meehan was chosen to receive the honorary degree because his lifelong work reflects the values the college strives to inculcate in its students. We couldn’t agree more!

Meehan is also making a very large donation to an educational foundation as he prepares to close his congressional campaign committee. Of the $4 million of remaining funds, $1 million will go towards scholarships for students at UMass Lowell.

As he completes his first year as president of UMass, Meehan hopes to demonstrate his commitment to education and the UMass community. Congratulations President Meehan!
