The UMass Dartmouth's Online BA in History emphasizes the development of critical thinking, communication skills and historical perspective and prepares students for a wide range of careers.
The BA in History is a fully online degree that offers students the opportunity to complete the entire program online or finish their prior study with a generous transfer credit policy.
This program requires students to complete 120 credits to graduate. With our generous transfer policy, students with existing credits may transfer up to 75 credits from a regionally accredited institution.

Students with fewer than 13 college credits will be required to:
Have your high school transcript sent to UMass Dartmouth.
Have your official SAT or ACT scores sent to UMass Dartmouth.
Send a personal statement of up to 500 words that demonstrates qualities of leadership, community service, work experiences and/or other significant interests.
Plan of Study:
In addition to core introductory history courses and critical skills for the history major, BA in History students must complete 27 credit hours of history courses above the 100 level including:
6 credits in U.S. History
6 credits in European History
6 credits in “other” history, such as Latin America, Asia, Near East, Africa, Ancient
3 credits in a history seminar
6 credits of history electives
Financial Aid:
Your UMass Dartmouth education is an investment in your future. There are a number of ways to finance your education including grants, scholarships, and loans. Your workplace may offer reimbursement for education if you check with the Human Resources Department where you work.
To be eligible for grants and loans, students must be enrolled in a degree or certificate program, and be taking at least 6 credits per semester.

You must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year to receive UMassD need-based education loans and grants. You must be enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program, and taking at least 6 credits per semester.
