UMass Amherst’s Master of Science in Data Analytics and Computational Social Science (DACSS) is an interdisciplinary degree offering data science training through a social science lens.

Whether you are a recent graduate or a professional looking to gain additional career skills, our program will prepare you for private and public sector roles that require management of complex data and familiarity with computational methods such as text analysis, network analysis, geocoding and GIS, simulation and scenario modeling, text scraping, Bayesian statistics, and machine learning for the social sciences.

Admissions: 
  • Applications are submitted through UMass Amherst Graduate School
  • Personal statements should include context about the applicant’s background, plans for the future, and the role that the degree is expected to play in those future plans
  • No GRE score is required. TOEFL score required (if applicable)

Admissions is rolling with applications processed regularly. Final deadlines for each term are as follows:

Fall start: June 1
Spring start: Oct 1
Summer start: Feb 1
